What are Weekend Warriors? They’re the people that typically only workout on Saturdays and Sundays. It makes sense if you don’t have the time to go to the gym during the week, and is therefore often associated with those who are desk bound Monday through Friday. As you may know, the recommended amount of exercise to stay “healthy”, is either 150 minutes of moderate exercise, or 75 minutes of vigorous activity per week. So, does it really matter whether you space that out over seven days, or pack it all into two?
A recent study by JAMA Internal Medicine (Loughborough University, England) says no. So if the health effects are the same whether you’re slogging it at the gym or spending your weekend mornings working up a sweat, why not make the most of your already busy days, and smash out your workouts when you’re less stressed.
